J. Bettenheimer winery - Rheinhessen wine region The Bettenheimer winery is located in the old Ober-Ingelheim. Since 2005, Jens Bettenheimer has been back at the family winery in Ingelheim am Rhein, which he took over in order to continue the Bettenheimer`s 550-year-old winemaking tradition. His passion lies in classic grape varieties such as Pinot Noir, Silvaner, Riesling and Pinot Gris.

    In the many vineyards that are over 30 years old, the vines are stripped of their leaves before flowering and every second shoot is removed from the Bogrebe by hand. When working in the vineyard, the interaction of the moon phases is taken into account in order to guarantee an optimal leaf-fruit ratio. His thesis topic is plant protection and the contacts gained as a result are always helpful. The strict harvesting of grapes by hand into small containers allows grape processing without any pumping.

    His vision is to bottle expressive wines with rough edges that are characteristic of the vintage, variety and our chalky terroir. The route is the goal!
