    Beef from New Zealand

    Greenlea is a family business that has its origins in the New Zealand town of Gisborne on the East Coast. Peter Egan, founder of Greenlea, has worked all his life in the New Zealand meat industry, but started in the 1960s at the family butcher Gisborne. In 1993, Greenlea`s first facility was built on the outskirts of Hamilton and praised in the press for its efficiency. Following the success of the Hamilton plant, Greenlea bought its second plant in Morrinsville in 1997.

    More than twenty years after commissioning of the first plant, Greenlea is still managed by the Egan family. In 2011, following the family tradition, Peter`s son James became chairman of the Board of Directors of Greenlea. Tony Egan, Peter`s nephew, also returned to Greenlea after 12 years as Managing Director. Peter`s son Simon and his daughter Caroline are also directors on the board.

    Greenlea`s family involvement does not end at the table. The team spirit that permeates the company reflects its values and strong family culture. Being a team is at the heart of what we do and how we do it. The employees of Greenlea who work in a team make us successful. We are big enough to reach but small enough to be interested in.
