DE-OKO-039 The nose is characterized by white fruits, banana and melon. The taste is very creamy, with a lot of melting, very juicy and playful. With a long, lingering finish, Pinot Gris goes well with hearty dishes and roasts. The vineyards of the Hofmann winery are located in Appenheim in northern Rhine-Hesse. The best locations in Appenheim - Eselspfad, Hundertgulden and Daubhaus - are geologically shaped by the foothills of the ancient sea, which created shell limestone soils. The Pinot Gris comes from Hundertgulden, a southern location at the foot of the Westerberg. The limestone from which the soil developed is the remains of a calcareous algae reef. The Burgundies here become very creamy, with minerality and have fine aromas of pear and banana.
