Doorly`s Rum, 14 years, 48% vol., Barbados

The oldest Doorly`s ever, Doorly`s 14YO, distilled from molasses and aged in oak barrels for 14 years. It was reduced to an impressive 48% alcohol volume in order to preserve its expressive character. Like the entire Doorly`s Brown Rum Series, the 14 year old rum is an excellent blend of light column still distillates and heavy pot still distillates. Both ex-bourbon barrels and Madeira barrels were used to mature this exceptional rum. That`s why the Doorly`s 14YO impresses across the board in terms of aroma and taste. Its complexity is captured by a gentle softness, making it a delight that stimulates the senses. Aromatically, it envelops the nose with notes of oak and vanilla, while a fruity overtone of sweet grapes suggests Zinfandel. The world of smells takes you to different corners of the Caribbean for a long time and yet leaves a lot unsaid. Unlike the taste, which is rich, it impresses at first with a note of tropical sweet fruits, juicy apples and toffee. At the same time, spicy ginger appears in the undertone. The finish includes wood, notes of dried plum and cassis. As it fades, it lingers in the mouth for a long time and combines ginger with oak and cinnamon, dark chocolate and a delicately mild bitterness.
