The multberry or peatberry is a typical Scandinavian berry fruit. It belongs to the family of the rose family. Raw, the multberry has a slightly bitter-sour taste. In many cases, jams or jelly are made from it. In Sweden they are eaten frozen with sugar (Björnkulla) and in Finland with the so-called Leipäjuusto - a doughy cheese dish - with lots of sugar. Incidentally, berry and blossom of the multberry are shown on the Finnish 2-euro coin. The multberry is the symbol of Lapland. Multbeeren are perfect for parfaits. It tastes warm and with vanilla ice cream just delicious.
