  • A terroir turned to the Mediterranean

Chateau du Donjon is located in southern France, in the Languedoc, 10 km from the medieval city of Carcassonne. Throughout the winter it observes the snow-capped peaks of the Pyrenees. The vineyard lies on the soil of the Clamoux, a hinge zone of the Mediterranean crag with the influence of the Atlantic Ocean. It consists of clay-limestone slopes and gravelly terraces. The terroir benefits from the AOC Minervois and Cabardes.
It is the ancient city of Minerva - a fortress built by the Romans that gave the Minervois their name. It is one of the oldest Mediterranean vineyards. In fact, more than 2000 years ago, the Romans chose this terroir to plant the first vines in Languedoc.
