Fruit secco and cider from van Nahmen

The fruity and non-alcoholic seccos are a pleasure to behold

Fruit secco and cider from van Nahmen Fruit processing has a long tradition in the van Nahmen cider factory and private winery in Hamminkeln, Rhineland. Nothing is removed from the juices and nothing is added: no preservatives, no flavorings. Particular attention is paid to the use of old fruit varieties and thus also to the preservation of traditional cultivated varieties that are threatened with extinction.

    Fruit juice with tradition

The processing of fruit has a long tradition in our family. Founded in 1917 as a Rhenish apple herb factory, we started producing fruit juices in 1930, initially as a contract cider factory. Even today, orchard owners from the Lower Rhine and the neighboring Münsterland still have their apples made into juice as a wage: For a press fee, we exchange 100 kg of apples for 80 bottles of 0.7 liters each. We are happy to buy surplus fruit.

Even today, in the 3rd and 4th generation, we hold on to the proven, artisan cider tradition and press all local fruit ourselves - in this way we have an influence on the quality right from the start. When it comes to quality, we are consistent, our in-house standards are all above the legal requirements.

And this effort pays off: every year our fruit juices are awarded by the German Agricultural Society (DLG). At the ANUGA we were awarded the federal honorary prize of the Ministry of Agriculture.

We were particularly pleased that in July 2010 the ÖKO TEST magazine rated our apple juice from meadow orchards as VERY GOOD in a test with more than 20 naturally cloudy apple juices.
