Tahitian vanilla is ideal for making desserts, creme brulee, vanilla sauce, vanilla ice cream, many other sweet dishes, and delicious sauces for shellfish. Tahitian vanilla is cultivated on the Pacific Islands. The pods, which weigh between 7 and 10 grams, are 15 to 20 cm long and approximately 1 cm wide, blackish-brown, and very fleshy. Due to their higher piperone content, which results in an unusually delicate, floral aroma, the scent differs noticeably from standard vanilla and is twice as effective. It is used, for example, in the preparation of desserts, shellfish and seafood, as well as fruit delicacies.
