Jorg Geiger Holzapfel vom Samling apple wine aged in wooden barrels, 8.5% vol., 0.75l
Single-varietal apple cider made from the Bittenfelder seedling apple, aged in barrique barrels. Color: clear, dark amber with plenty of extract. Aroma: The initial burst of aroma is a rich scent of baked apple. This is broken up by a delicate freshness of lemon and mint. The aromas are reminiscent of a mature, smooth Calvados with vanilla, cinnamon, marzipan, and toasted almonds. Taste: The aroma doesn`t overpromise. On the palate, the cider opens with a taste of full-bodied, ripe apples, followed by caramel, toffee, marzipan, and dark honey. Refreshed by the lively acidity of the Bittenfelder apple and a hint of orange zest in the finish. Recommendation: Foie gras with apple jelly and honey bread, game birds, aged hard cheeses, as well as baked apple dessert, crepe Suzette, and much more.
