Riesling 32, country wine, dry, 11.5% vol., Balthasar Ress
With the 2012 vintage, the Balthasar Ress winery began leaving some wines in the barrels as a kind of reserve. However, this was done in a highly unusual way: the wines remained on their lees. This was partly because, at the time of the decision, some wines still needed to ferment. Furthermore, the winery is convinced that extremely long lees aging harmonizes and naturally stabilizes the wines. This particular wine aged for 32 months on its lees. Due to its unusual flavor profile, it is only labeled as a Rheingau regional wine. For several years now, it has been a cuvee made from multiple vintages and therefore does not carry a vintage designation.
