2021 Goldtröpfchen Riesling GG, dry, 12% vol., St.Urbans-Hof

Goldtröpfchen GG already shines on the nose with the tropical fruits and cassis notes so familiar from the location, which are accompanied by herbal and spicy notes such as green tea and mint. The exoticism of the location continues on the palate with notes of pineapple, passion fruit, ripe mango, pomegranates and black currant. At the same time, the wine is earthy-spicy, almost iodine, due to the weathered slate soil. Full-bodied and with a deep structure, the Goldtröpfchen GG easily tolerates a few years of bottle aging. The Goldtröpfchen in Piesport is one of the oldest and most prestigious vineyards on the Moselle and in Germany. Due to its centuries-old reputation, the steep slope is also known as a so-called `historic vineyard location`. The Urbans-Hof property is located exclusively in two parts of the amphitheater-shaped steep slope that have not been cleared, where the rugged slate rocks reach steeply to the Moselle. Due to the fact that the vineyards are on small terraces, pure manual work is irreplaceable in all areas. This area of the Goldtröpfchen is not called `Lorelei` without reason and is just as impressive in terms of landscape as it is ideal for growing Riesling. The soft blue Devonian shale and weathered soil retains heat from the sun and charges with the rocks like a battery during the day. Due to the proximity to the Moselle, the sunlight reflection is very high, which benefits photosynthesis. All in all, the Goldtröpfchen has a warm microclimate by Moselle standards, which is strongly influenced by the river and slate and favors the development of fruity aromas in the Riesling
