Za`atar is a popular spice blend in the eastern Mediterranean and North and East Africa. Its main ingredients are thyme, sumac, sesame, and salt. Za`atar can be eaten simply with bread dipped in olive oil and yogurt. It can also be used to season salad dressings or yogurt sauces. The spice blend also enhances roasted and grilled lamb, poultry, or fish dishes.
