Christmas biscuits honey cake Basel style (treats), Peters
This traditional gingerbread-like pastry (also called Baseler Leckerli) is made with wheat flour, lots of honey, candied fruit, and a variety of nuts such as hazelnuts and almonds. The flat, baked dough is cut into small rectangular pieces (the Leckerli) while still warm and then covered with icing. The finest dark chocolate provides a delicate, bitter contrast to the sweet glaze. This delicious Christmas pastry is named after its original production location, the city of Basel.
