Wasabi - Green Horseradish - Powder, made from 100% Wasabi (Eutrema japonica)

Wasabi is a green root vegetable with a distinctly pungent flavor. Originally from Japan, it thrives only in flowing water. This root, similar to horseradish, is now also cultivated in New Zealand and the USA. Wasabi is traditionally used as a condiment for sushi, roasted nuts, and legumes. The characteristic wasabi pungency comes from the volatile mustard oils it contains, causing a burning sensation in the throat and nose. Wasabi is available as a fresh root, powder, or paste. The powder should be mixed with a little liquid and can then be seasoned with other spices to taste.
