This double-aged rum is truly something special. Its journey begins in the Caribbean, where it spends five years in ex-bourbon American oak barrels. From there, it travels by ship to Spain. To prevent any sense of monotony, the molasses-based spirit rests for another five years in casks that previously held Pedro Ximenez sherry. The sherry is immediately apparent on the nose. Roasted hazelnuts, date syrup, and dried figs vie for attention. On the palate, the oak remains discreetly in the background, allowing the dark sweetness to unfold its full complexity. A rum that is truly one of a kind.
