This balanced pepper is elegant and has a mild aroma. Monk`s pepper is used in a similar way to black pepper, although its spiciness is somewhat more subtle and the taste is therefore not quite as dominant. It forms the basis for many spice mixtures and unfolds its full potential when freshly ground. It can also be used perfectly in unground form in sauces and soups. Ideally, the grains are removed after cooking to preserve an even flavor.
