From grapes to sparkling wine

  • History of the Raumland sparkling wine house

In 1984 the desire to achieve something big arose. Since then, we have been breaking new ground and producing high-quality sparkling wine using traditional bottle fermentation. This was unthinkable for many in Germany at the time. Today we as a family cultivate 10 hectares of vineyards, organically of course. We have a great passion for the classic Burgundy grape varieties such as Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Meunier. Our locations in Rheinhessen and the Palatinate allow us to produce sparkling wine base wines that have minerality, depth and complexity. The grapes that we pick by hand are processed gently and only the heart of the grape - the cuvee pressing - is used for our sparkling wine. Our decision to focus exclusively on producing quality sparkling wine is helping us to bring German Sekt more international attention again. Since 2020 we have also been a member of the VDP (Association of German Pradikat Wine Estates) - as the first pure sparkling wine producer - and are thus bringing the German sparkling wine scene further internationally.

Good taste is not objective - it cannot be measured. It took many years of patience and countless attempts to take small steps towards the big goal: to achieve the optimum from the variety of our grape varieties, the traditional processes and the options available today. This is our vision, which challenges us every day.

  • Raumland GrapeSecco

We make our white and red grape Secco from aromatic grape varieties that give the non-alcoholic Secco a great fruitiness. We pay great attention to the quality of the grapes used. Since we completely avoid preservation through rapid heating, we only use the best grapes.
The grapes are harvested at the beginning of September and then immediately pressed, cooled, filtered and bubbled. This gentle process and the additional effort that we accept guarantees the special, fresh and, above all, natural taste. Since the juice does not undergo alcoholic fermentation, it does not contain any alcohol.
