Sugar beet syrup is the heavily boiled and caramelized juice of sugar beet; sweet and spicy taste; for Christmas cookies (gingerbread, etc.), is also used as a spread; particularly popular in the Rhineland, where it is also used to spread on pancakes or potato pancakes and sometimes also to season sauerbraten sauces. Also available in 450g and 5kg.
