2024 Elephant in a China Shop, dry, 13.5% vol., Strehn, organic
AT - BIO - 402. The Strehns` labels are organized around animals. And their rose is indeed monstrously elephantine. `Elephant in a china shop` is written on the label. `Because it`s a very unconventional wine,` says winemaker Pia Strehn. The wine is best served in a large Burgundy glass. For Pia Strehn, the rose smells of citrus, peach, and `blood orange.` And ever since, I haven`t known what I find more bizarre: a pink wine-an elephant-or a winemaker who detects blood oranges in her rose. A pale salmon pink. On the nose, an intense and inspiring aroma of blood oranges, vineyard peach, bourbon vanilla, and herbs. On the palate, full-bodied, juicy, rounded, with intense fruit and a long finish.
