Dried seaweed (brown algae). Dried brown algae (Saccharina japonica). Caution: High in iodine, may cause thyroid dysfunction! Directions: Soak 1g of kombu in 1 liter of cold water for 2 hours. Transfer the soaked kombu to fresh water (broth) and heat to 60°C. Hold the temperature for 5 minutes. Then remove the kombu completely. Not suitable for direct consumption. Store in a cool, dry place. Origin: China. Caught: Northwest Pacific (FOA 61). Fishing gear: Purse seine and lift nets.
