2014 Il Caberlot, barrique, dry, 13.5% vol., Magnum, Carnasciale
The Caberlot grape is a natural cross between Cabernet Franc and Merlot and has been cultivated exclusively at the Podere Il Carnasciale winery since 1986. The estate`s flagship wine is also named Il Caberlot. It matures for 22 months in French oak barrels. Caberlot is one of Italy`s most celebrated wines. It is bottled only in magnum bottles and corked by hand. Annual sales are limited to just 2,300 bottles. A true rarity. A wild, exuberant vintage with great complexity - the crisp fruit blends with dense tannins and fully ripened elderberries, accompanied by notes of black pepper, tobacco, and leather.
