Aronia berries

One way to enjoy aronia berries is to buy them frozen. Frozen aronia berries have the advantage that they have a long shelf life and can be used at any time. The freezing process preserves the tart, sour taste and nutrients. The aronia berry contains hydrogen cyanide and should therefore only be consumed raw in small quantities. Ideally, frozen aronia berries are suitable for making jam, fruit sauces, compotes, juice or even processing them into a syrup is possible. Aronia berries are small, dark purple fruits that belong to the rose family. The berries, also known as chokeberries, originally come from North America. Nowadays they are mainly grown in Poland, Germany and Austria.
