2016 Winninger Riesling, dry, 11.5% vol., Materne and Schmitt

The vineyard soils in Winningen are strongly dominated by gray slate, mineral components make it appear brownish/reddish in many places. Quartzite and pumice also give this terroir its character. The Winninger Ortswein is characterized by yellow fruit and floral notes. The fine minerality gives it elegance. A little more mature, this harmonious, full-bodied wine becomes a perfect accompaniment to food.
