Spice Garden Coriander, ground

Coriander is the peppercorn-sized fruit of an umbelliferous plant native to the Mediterranean region. Dried, the fruits have a very aromatic scent and a pleasantly spicy flavor with a delicate citrus note. Coriander contains a high amount of essential oil and is frequently used in cooking for pickling, curing cucumbers, rubbing pork before roasting, and in apple pies. The spice is also a popular ingredient in the production of pepper cakes, honey cakes, gingerbread, and spiced breads. In Arabic and Indian cuisine, coriander is a key component of many spice blends.
