The smell of allspice or clove pepper is very strong and aromatic, somewhat like cloves, with hints of cinnamon and nutmeg. In terms of taste, they have a slight peppery spiciness. Ground clove pepper is easy to dose and, with its complex aromas, goes well with both sweet and spicy dishes, such as fish, meat, soups, sauces, fricassee, marinades, sauerbraten, cabbage, compotes and mulled wine.
