Almond trees belonging to the family Rosaceae. Basically, sweet and bitter almonds can be distinguished. The sweet are the best selling and popular with confectioners almonds. They have a delicate texture and the characteristic sweet taste. From them is produced, among other things marzipan. Raw bitter almonds are through the cyanide-share highly toxic and can be lethal!
