Pistachios are related to cashews and are the seeds of a stone fruit. The yellow-green to dark green nut kernel is located under the beige, hard shell. They have an aromatic and sweet taste. Pistachios are used instead of almonds in the production of pastries, confectionery and chocolates, but are also used as an ingredient in meat fillings and fine sausage products. Just like almonds, they are briefly scalded, finely chopped or sliced.
