Cashew kernels, unsalted
The cashew tree, botanically belonging to the same family as the pistachio and mango, originates from northern South America and is now cultivated in Brazil, India, Southeast Asia, and some African countries. Its fruit is the so-called cashew apple. This apple is not easily transported and is therefore largely unknown in our region. At the bottom of this fruit develops the cashew nut, containing the cashew kernel. Its sweet, buttery flavor is similar to almonds, but it is creamier and softer. With a fat content of around 42%, it is relatively low.
