As early as 10,000 years ago, the Aztecs in Central America used the fruits of the avocado tree as a source of oil and fruit. The avocado tree grows to an impressive 15 meters tall. It thrives, among other places, in tropical Mexico. Its many small, white-greenish blossoms, similar to those of the sweet cherry, rely exclusively on insect pollination. The avocado offers bees both abundant nectar and delicious pollen. From the nectar, the bees produce the fruity, robust, and highly aromatic avocado honey, which has a slightly sweet, dried fruit and plum flavor.
