Single Malt Whisky, Whisky Druid Dragonjuice 10 years, 50.4% vol., Islay

From the German independent bottler Whisky Druid comes this Islay malt, produced by the renowned Caol Ila distillery, known for its heavily peated whiskies. For over ten years, the distillate was matured in first-fill Ruby Port barriques, PX Sherry casks, Oloroso hogsheads, and bourbon barrels. Bottled at a robust 50.4% ABV, without chill filtration, and in its natural color, it is unfiltered. The bouquet opens with a dry, ashy wood smoke, quickly followed by a pronounced peat note, before fruity nuances of apricot and dried fruit emerge. On the palate, the power of this `dragon`s brew` unfolds in an intense interplay: heavy, dark sweetness meets a distinctive peat smoke, while notes of hazelnut and dark grapes create a complex texture. The finish is remarkably long, maintaining the balance between the rich fruit sweetness and the spicy smoke.
