2023 Sauvignon Blanc Ried Obegg, dry, 14% vol., Walter Polz
The Obegg Sauvignon Blanc vineyard is a truly exceptional wine, whose wonderful vines were planted in 1989 in a topsoil layer of up to 40 cm of sand, connected to a coral reef. This unique combination of soil and vines gives the wine its distinctive character. The grapes are carefully vinified and aged in 500-liter French oak barrels, 20% of which are new. Spontaneous fermentation and 100% malolactic fermentation help to preserve the natural freshness and expressiveness of the grapes. After a year on the lees without the addition of sulfur, the wine undergoes a further year of aging in stainless steel tanks to add complexity and refinement. On the nose, the Obegg Sauvignon Blanc is fragrant with vanilla and ripe pineapple notes. This interplay of aromas makes it a true pleasure, impressively reflecting the uniqueness of the vines and the special characteristics of the terroir. A wine for connoisseurs, captivating with its complexity and finesse.
