Ferrand Cognac Double Cask Grande Champagne 1st Cru de Cognac
Pronounced fruitiness with a spicy sweetness, chocolate-covered prunes, hazelnut, balanced oak notes, and a hint of vanilla. The PX finish is well-balanced, with dried fruits, caramel, figs, and nuttiness. The fruit sweetness is harmoniously integrated with slightly spicy notes and a very subtle, invigorating interplay of fruit and acidity. Honey-like sweetness and spicy-fruity notes linger on the finish. Double Cask Reserve revives the long-forgotten tradition of double maturation, a production method in which the House of Ferrand excels, guaranteeing a wide range of flavors and complexity. After initial maturation in 350-liter French oak casks, the cognac receives its finishing touch in ex-sherry PX casks for an average of 6-12 months (depending on the cask). The barrels depicted on the label, as well as the portrait of Elie Ferrand VIII, reflect his role as a pioneer of maturation techniques and are a tribute to craftsmanship.
