2020 Reserve Red Wine, dry, 13.5% vol., Bedoba
The Saperavi grapes for this reserve wine come from vines planted in 1984, growing around the historic village of Kvareli in the heart of the Kakheti region, within the Kvareli appellation. Bottled in early 2024, the wine was allowed to mature in the bottle for over a year before release. This maturation takes place in qvevri - amphorae made from local clay and buried in the same soil as the vineyards. The wine displays a rich and complex profile with aromas of dark berries, wild alpine herbs, and delicate floral nuances, complemented by a hint of black pepper. On the palate, it exhibits a perfect balance between power and elegance, with robust, spicy fruit flavors harmonizing with a fine minerality and a silky texture. The gentle influence of toasted oak adds subtle complexity while remaining discreetly in the background. The finish is long, structured and refined, with a lingering feeling of purity.
