2022 500 Sauvignon Blanc QW, dry, 13% vol., Von Winning

A selection of spectacular 500-liter wooden barrels in which the Sauvignon Blanc underwent spontaneous fermentation. This wine electrifies with its demanding precision, boasting a racy, Burgundian-like chalky minerality and juicy elderberry aromas, ripe gooseberry, and tremendous spice of coffee and roasted hazelnuts. Elegance, fruit-everything is present in abundance. The winery was known as Dr. Deinhard for over 90 years and has borne its historical name again since the change of ownership in 2007. With 80% of the vineyard area dedicated to Riesling, the focus is clearly on the estate, but Sauvignon Blanc is also gaining in importance.
