Red shiso is a popular Japanese herb and medicinal spice with a long tradition, said to date back to before the birth of Christ. This high-quality shiso from Oita Province in southern Japan is made from shiso grown naturally without pesticides. The shiso`s slightly bitter taste harmonizes with the fruity aroma of the ume plum. In Japan, this preparation is often diluted with water (two to five times) and served over ice as a refreshing summer drink. It can also be used creatively in bars and desserts.
