2023 Grauburgunder Kalkmergel QW, dry, 13% vol., F. Becker
Grown around Schweigen on the Alsatian side of the vineyards, this wine is grown on old vines. Naturally low yields, careful grape processing, and several months of lees aging produce a concentrated yet playfully fresh Pinot Gris with smoothness and finesse. The vines are 47 years old. It has distinct pink reflections. The nose offers aromas of bright red garden fruits and pomegranate. A subtle oak note. On the palate, it is juicy and drinkable with a pleasantly fresh character. It has good structure and length. The rose color is the result of several days of maceration of the highly ripe, pink Pinot Gris grapes before pressing.
