DE - ECO 022. A rich straw yellow with brilliant reflections, this half-vineyard Riesling flows from the Steingruble vineyard into the glass. Grown on siliceous sandstone, it speaks volumes on the nose and doesn`t entice with overly brash primary fruit, but rather speaks of its aging in a half-vineyard barrel and its one-year lees aging. This half-vineyard, from over 40-year-old vines, smells of pome fruit like yellow apples and yellow stone fruit, underpinned by a subtle spice reminiscent of mild kitchen herbs like sage. Grown on siliceous sandstone, it is complex on the palate with juicy yet reduced fruit and builds considerable momentum without relying on sheer power. Rich in finesse and polished, with perfectly integrated acidity and a creamy texture, this single-vineyard Riesling clearly demands large, expensive glasses and, like a good red wine, thrives on ample air time. A wine that already brings great joy and will reveal its full potential with a few years of bottle aging.
