The Grand Cru Blanchot benefits from the morning sun, which is responsible for a certain delicacy and fruity nose. On the palate, the wine is powerful and full-bodied with mushroomy, earthy and floral notes. The Moreau family settled in Chablis in 1814 and, with Louis Moreau, is the seventh generation to grow wine. After studying oenology at the University of Fresno in California and various positions at several Californian wineries, Louis returned to Chablis in the early 1990s to succeed his father. Today the domaine has 50 hectares of vineyards with many well-known Premier Crus and Grand Crus. The Chablis AC and the Premier Crus are only aged in steel tanks, 20% of the Grand Crus come into contact with used barriques, so there is a very subtle wood influence. The Moreau style is characterized by quiet, elegant wines that perfectly reflect the corresponding terroir. Fortunately, we were able to purchase small batches of mature Grand Crus that demonstrate the excellent development potential of the wines.
