Polyalcohol, obtained by converting maltose from starch, usually corn. It has 0.8 times the sweetness of sugar (sucrose) and is used in the production of products such as chocolate, candy, chewing gum, cookies (in dough as a substitute for sucrose), and products for diabetics in general. It is also frequently used in ice cream parlors to produce lower-calorie and less sweet products. In large quantities, it can have a laxative effect. Mix all components according to the preparation.
