Huerta de Tormantos - tomato sauce

This premium canned tomato will delight you! It`s made from 100% Tomatoes of the `Tomata` variety. No salt, no oil? pure nature! The `Tomata` tomatoes are produced entirely by hand with great care on approximately 1 hectare in La Rioja Alta by the family-run Huerta de Tormantos. This tomato is a very special variety: they are very large (between 500g and 1.2kg each), very meaty, highly aromatic, and have a deep red color. The tomatoes are planted in May and hand-harvested in September. They are grown without any mineral fertilizers or pesticides. After reaching optimal ripeness in the sun, they are picked, washed, and peeled. Then, the tomatoes are hung to dry, allowing them to lose as much water as possible. The result is pure and highly aromatic tomato flesh. Approximately 3kg of fresh tomatoes are used to make a 420g jar. A delight on its own or with good olive oil and salt.
