Barley, whole, peeled, ORGANIC
DE - ORGANIC - 003 Barley is one of the first grains cultivated by humans. However, it has somewhat fallen into obscurity as a foodstuff and is now almost exclusively known as animal feed or a raw material for brewers. Only polished barley grains-pearl barley-are sometimes still used in savory dishes. It can be used whole or cracked in soups, casseroles, or risotto. Due to its low gluten content, it must be combined with wheat, for example, for baking. Mildly sweet sprouts can be grown from whole barley grains, which go well with muesli or salads.
