Elongated rice grains of approx. 6-8 mm in length are called long grain rice. A universal side dish (which we often underestimate), but also the basis for dishes from risibisi to a rice salad. Wash the rice in a sieve until the water runs clear and when you have time let it soak. Then cook it on high power for 5 minutes and steam it in the closed pot on the switched off stove for 10. If you prefer it rather creamy, you shouldn`t wash the rice beforehand, which, however, requires good and clean quality. The more intensely you wash the rice, the more grainy its consistency will be after cooking. For a typical risotto, however, a short grain rice should be used (Look for: Arborio, Vialone, Carnaroli).
