Black jungle pepper / Periyar - Kerala - India, whole, Altes Gewurzamt, Ingo Holland
This jungle pepper is a specialty from Periyar National Park in the state of Kerala in southern India. Aromatic, traditional pepper varieties, threatened with extinction, are cultivated and harvested here by indigenous people who still live in tribal communities, without chemicals and according to Ecoland organic guidelines. With an exceptionally high content of essential oils, this vintage pepper offers a very intense, refined aroma. The pepper is similar to Vietnamese pepper, slightly floral, but with an even stronger peppery note. Pairs wonderfully with beef, game, dark soups and sauces, salads, and tomatoes!
