This enriched wine from the Portuguese island of the same name is very popular in the UK, the USA and Northern Europe as an aperitif or dessert wine. Amber. In the taste medium sweet with aromas of walnuts, chocolate and some mocha. Nice nutty finish with subtle sweetness. It is also good for refining soups and sauces. Madeira wines are cuvees from up to four different grape varieties. The palate ranges from dry to very sweet. They are considered wines for eternity and last over 100 years.
