Sparkling, white, Franciacorta DOCG Brut, Il Mosnel

As is often the case with sparkling wines of exceptional quality, it is women who steer the fortunes of these wineries. Emanuela Barboglio inherited the winery in the province of Brescia from her father and had it well prepared by the time the region became the Franciacorta DOC area in 1968. The Brut, made from 60% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Blanc, and 10% Pinot Noir, has a berry aroma, a fine perlage, is still lively and delicately fruity, yet already boasts a long finish. The wines remain on the lees for at least 18 months for the second fermentation. A Franciacorta that pairs well with appetizers.
