Whetstone Belgian chunks, natural stone blue, 15 x 4cm, grain 5000er - 1 pc - loose

Whetstone Belgian chunks, natural stone blue, 15 x 4cm, grain 5000er

The quarrying of Belgian whetstones was first documented in 1625. However, Pliny the Elder (23-79 AD, Roman scholar) already mentioned special whetstones from the Ardennes in his writings. The approximately 480-million-year-old slate sedimentary rock, composed of volcanic ash and clay, contains veins of the finest garnets (5-20 microns) embedded within it. The blue Belgian whetstone contains approximately 30% garnets and has a grit size of 5000-6000. It is very easy to use. When used with water, it maintains and sharpens the edges of knives and tools without leaving a burr. Natural stone, approximately 150 x 40 x 14 mm, bench stone, grit: 5000-6000
