Cameroon pepper, black, whole
This pepper originates from the Penja Valley in Cameroon, West Africa. The equatorial climate, with its balanced ratio of sun and rain, and the fertile volcanic soils are ideal for cultivating pepper plants. Harvests are small, making this pepper very rare and highly sought after. Its aroma is reminiscent of coniferous trees, and when ground, of fresh wood. The pepper`s heat is very sharp and intense. Unlike chilies, however, the spiciness does not last long. Black Cameroon pepper is used to season meat dishes and, accordingly, darker soups and sauces.
