The Vanilla tahitensis pods themselves are relatively wide (1 cm), beautifully soft, and slightly moist, making them in no way to be confused with the more popular Bourbon vanilla. Their exclusive fragrance is delicate and floral, reminiscent of exotic fruits and a hint of tobacco. The cellulose in the pod imparts its typical flavor to the seeds. The dots or specks merely suggest an intense aroma. Ingo Holland`s tip: Store in sugar syrup. This keeps them moist and pliable. The price-performance ratio is very good, as the pods are very productive. Tahitian vanilla is the queen of vanilla varieties and, due to its opulent aroma, is preferably used in desserts.
