Umeshu Plum Wine, Suien, Japan
This plum liqueur, with its lovely traditional sweetness, is made with sake/rice wine. This gives it a more elegant taste, allowing the natural aroma of the Japanese ume plum to shine through. Enjoy this Umeshu at room temperature, well chilled, or on the rocks. Topped with a dry sparkling wine, it creates a fine Kir Japonais. Mixed with shoyu, it`s perfect for dips and marinades with a fruity ume aroma. Suien - `Drunken Garden` - is a traditional brewery with over 200 years of history in Nagano Prefecture. The small town of Azumino is famous for producing some of the best wasabi in Japan. Wasabi grows only in very clear, fresh water, and it is precisely from this water that Suien brews its sake.
