Jackfruit, in syrup
Jackfruit originated in India and is now widespread in all tropical countries, especially in Southeast Asia. A single fruit can grow up to 1 meter long, 50 centimeters wide, and weigh up to 90 kilograms. The interior contains numerous yellow, sweet, juicy, and pleasantly tropical-scented and -tasting individual fruits, each containing a large brown seed. Jackfruit is considered one of the most delicious fruits in the world. In many Asian countries, it is a staple food due to its high starch content and its high levels of protein, calcium, and phosphorus. These jackfruits are preserved in syrup, and their pulp contains edible seeds. They are added to fruit salads and used to make ice cream.
